EXPONENTIAL RETURNS
By David Roadcup, Director for the Center for Church Advancement

One strength of the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ is that we practice complete autonomy, however one down side to that is we sometimes lose touch with the power of unity in our common mission, which is to exponentially increase the kingdom. A new project that had some of its roots here at CCU is doing exactly that.

The kingdom synergy project is a new ministry birthed in the state of Ohio by Greg Nettle (class of 85) to encourage churches to grow and plant new churches. Greg came to the campus of CCU and shared his idea with David Faust, Joe Ellis, and myself; all of whom gave the concept whole hearted endorsement.

The KSP works like this; a healthy church over 1000 selects two healthy churches over 500 to mentor. All three churches make a commitment to last for two years. Over that 2 year period, that staffs of the mega church and the two others meet periodically to discuss, instruct and encourage each other. The elderships of the three churches also meet on a regular basis to do the same. Other teaching and fellowship meetings may be organized to strengthen and bless all three congregations. At the end of the two year period, the churches combine their prayer, finances and efforts to plant new congregation with the assistance of Stadia: New Church Strategies. The unity, strength and blessing of churches working together is already being experienced as several mega churches have begun meeting with mentee churches to fulfill the vision that Greg Nettle started. May their tribe increase!
