THE FINANCIAL AID PROCESS
- Apply for Admission to Cincinnati Christian
University.
You must be accepted for admission before any aid may be disbursed
to your student account.
- Contact the Admisssions Office regarding
eligibility for institutional scholarships.
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
to the Federal Processor as soon as possible after January 1.
The results of this application will determine your eligibility
for federal and state aid (Pell Grant, SEOG, Federal Work-Study,
Federal Stafford Loans, Ohio Instructional Grant, and Pennsylvania
State Grant). You may submit the FAFSA
electronically and sign it using a PIN at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
If you do not have a PIN, you may request one at www.pin.ed.gov.
If you are a dependent student, your parent will need a PIN, too.
The paper version of the
FAFSA is available from the Financial Aid Office.
- Undergraduate Ohio residents should
complete the Ohio Student Choice Grant
Application.
- If requested, submit
federal tax forms and other financial information or documentation
to the Financial Aid Office for Verification.
- The Financial Aid Office will send you an
Award Packet to inform you of your aid eligibility for the school
year. This eligibility will be based on the results of your FAFSA. Review your financial aid award
and contact the Financial Aid Office with questions. You must
sign and return a copy of the Award Letter. If you wish to decline
any of the aid listed, make the appropriate indication on your
Award Letter.
- If you are borrowing in the Federal
Family Education Loan Program, carefully follow the instructions
outlined in your Award Packet. Cincinnati Christian University
works with a list of Preferred Lenders through which federal loans
are certified electronically and received by Electronic Funds
Transfer (EFT). Students who wish to use a lender not on the list may do so. Please contact Student Financial Services if you have any questions about choosing a lender. All federal loan funds are sent directly to the
school.
- Students who are awarded Federal Work-Study
should complete the Student Worker Job Skills and Interest Form
and return it to the CCU Human Resources Office. Eligible students
typically will receive the form with their Financial Aid Award
Notifications.
- CCU has established standards
of satisfactory academic progress to encourage students
to complete courses for which financial aid is received. A student
whose cumulative grade point average fails to meet the minimum
standards noted above will be placed on one semester of financial
aid probation. Failure to bring the cumulative grade-point average
up to the required minimum after the probationary semester will
result in financial aid suspension.
- CCU has selected the lenders on its Preferred Lender List based on the following criteria: customer service, ease of process, borrower benefits, and financial literacy programs and company stability.
