POSITION TITLE:  Director of Educational Field Experiences

DEPARTMENT:  Department of Education

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Director of Educational Field Experiences is responsible for identifying and assigning all student teaching clinical field experiences for all education students required to complete the 12-hour course, EDUC 400 Clinical Field Experience.  This includes meeting individually with student teachers, contacting school districts for classroom placement, securing the site location, overseeing observations, evaluating the student teachers’ performance, and appropriately reporting data as outlined by outside accrediting organizations.  Additionally, the Director of Educational Field Experiences will teach the seminar class sessions throughout the semester that correspond with the student teaching semester schedule.


  • Oversee and maintain the standards set forth by ODHE and ODE and the national accrediting body for student teaching requirements and the fulfillment of all capstone related experiences to education degrees.  The Director of Educational Field Experiences will work in partnership on this task with her or his supervisor but will assume most of the accountability for these expectations.
  • Conduct observations in schools throughout the greater Cincinnati area.  This position will also oversee additional Education Supervisors used by CCU to conduct student observations.
  • Identify strong candidates, implement training, communicate with, and evaluate the Education Supervisors.
  • Assist the Department Chair and the Dean with accreditation reporting.
  • Administer and maintain changes due to employment, benefits, etc.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs


  • Moderate noise level


  • The qualified individual will have an earned masters in education, with preference given to those with practical classroom experience.
  • Candidates must also have an active state-approved teaching license.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience with diverse populations, teaching in educational settings, and an understanding of Common Core State Standards.
  • The individual must be able to travel to multiple school sites within two hours of the CCU campus for conducting observations and meeting with teachers via personal or school provided vehicle.
  • Employees of CCU are to sign the university’s Statement of Faith for employment purposes.
