Technical and Electronic Services Librarian

The George Mark Elliott Library at Cincinnati Christian University has an immediate opening for the position of Technical and Electronic Services Librarian.


The Technical and Electronic Services Librarian performs all cataloging, enhanced retrieval, and inventory control of all library materials. As Electronic Services Librarian, this person also provides leadership and support for the library’s electronic services and resources, including the supervision and support of the library’s web site, management and support of the library’s collection of databases and e-resources, and management and support of discovery tools. This position will also provide support for OCLC interlibrary loan services, and will assist the library director with reference and bibliographic instruction. The Technical and Electronic Services Librarian is a twelve-month administrative faculty position. The Technical and Electronic Services Librarian reports directly to the Director of Library Services. As an administrative faculty member, the TESL is subject to all normal faculty policies and procedures (as outlined in the CCU Employee Handbook). The TESL will undergo an annual performance review conducted by the library director.


  • An ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS with a knowledge of current bibliographic maintenance standards and practices.
  • Demonstrated track record of cataloging competency and experience; experience in an academic library setting preferred.
  • Experience with electronic cataloging tools, including: OCLC cataloging utilities, Innovative Interfaces cataloging module, and other common bibliographic and utilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of cataloging standards and metadata formats, including: MARC, AACR2, RDA, Dewey Decimal classification, and LC Subject classification.
  • Experience with the Innovative Interfaces integrated library system. If the candidate does not have experience with Sierra, the candidate must at least have experience with the Millennium interface.
  • Experience with discovery tools such as EBSCO Full-Text Finder and EBSCO Discovery Service.
  • Experience with the LibGuides platform.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently but also should desire to work collaboratively with other members of the library team.
  • Must be able to sign CCU’s statement of faith for all employees.
