Dr. Barbara Steffens is licensed in Ohio as a Professional Clinical Counselor and is a Supervising Counselor. She received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University in May of 2005, and her Masters of Education in Agency & Community Counseling from Xavier University in 1991. Her areas of professional expertise include sexual addiction, abuse recovery, crisis intervention, family violence, and grief counseling with adults, adolescents, and children. Her clinical specialty is working with spouses of sexual addicts.

Barb is a charter member of American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), member of Christian Association of Psychological Studies (CAPS), American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Mental Health Counseling Association (AMHCA). She has presented workshops at various conferences on issues related to helping spouses of sexual addicts and the effects of the sexualized culture upon children. Her research interests include sexual addiction and the effects of this addiction on spouses and upon marriages. She is also interested in promoting emotional health and safety within the local church.

Barb has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, a domestic violence shelter, crisis center/hotline, and as clinical director of therapeutic foster care programs. She also served on staff of a large Cincinnati area church, College Hill Presbyterian Church, directing its lay counseling and support group ministries. She served as vice president of Victim Assistance for the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families where she developed a national HelpLine for victims of sexual exploitation and those struggling with sexual addiction.

Barb and her husband Steve live in the northwest Cincinnati area and are active in their church, Vineyard Church Northwest, in the worship ministry and as small group leaders. They have two adult daughters.
