Master of Arts in Religion
Pastoral Leadership Concentration
Emphasis in Family Studies
The Family Studies concentration is designed
to meet the increasing demand for highly qualified persons to
serve the multiple needs of families within a complex, technological
society. The major objectives of the program are to: study human
and family development from birth through adult age; prepare for
professional careers related to working with families and individuals
in both home, church, and community environments, while developing
responsible adults with knowledge and skills for marriage, parenthood
and social roles. If a student plans to pursue certification in
family life education, consultation with the faculty adviser is
recommended.
Students who satisfactorily complete the requirements
with a concentration in Family Studies will be able to:
- Identify and describe the theoretical foundations
for family studies.
- Develop, conduct and evaluate family life
programs and services.
- Critically evaluate the skills that families
need to meet the challenges of family life and its environs.
- Apply strategies to assist families in
growing toward health.
- Complete graduate level research and writing
in the field of family studies.
