Doug received his B.S. degree in Christian
Ministry from Cincinnati Bible College . Doug received
a Masters of Theology (TH.M.) from Louisville Bible College
; Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Cincinnati Bible Seminary;
and a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) from Kent State University
and his Ph.D. from Kent State University . He served as
an Associate Minister with the Northside Christian Church
in New Albany , Indiana for seven years and preaching
minister for nine years at the Southwest Christian Church
in Cleveland , Ohio . Doug serves as a professor and Pastoral
Counseling and Family Studies Chair at Cincinnati Christian
University.
Dr. Spears is a charter member of the
American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and
also a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
He is a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC)
in Ohio and (CPC) in Kentucky . Doug also serves as consultant
and clinical supervisor with Christian Counseling Network.
His current research interests include impact of infertility
on adoptive parenting, impact of Promise Keepers/Women
of Faith movement, and marital satisfaction, efficacy
of premarital counseling, and counseling needs assessment
for the local church and Bible College.
Doug and his wife Gayle (formerly
Rodgers, CBC graduate 1976 & 1978) have been married
20 years and have two children: Jennifer and Jonathan.
