INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

College Credit Plus courses must be taught by individuals who meet the Ohio Board of Regents academic credential requirements.  High school teachers must apply to Cincinnati Christian University to become a “Volunteer Adjunct” Cincinnati Christian University faculty member.

At Cincinnati Christian University, we have the following submission process:

  1. Courses and instructors are approved at the same time.
  2. The following items are needed for approval for the course to be taught and the instructor:
  • A copy of the high school teacher’s transcripts.  Official transcripts must be provided upon approval of the course and the credential.
  • A copy of the high school teacher’s resume or vitae.
  • A copy of the course syllabus including all textual readings, test samples, text books, etc. (See Course Approval Documents)
  • Completed CCU Adjunct form for access to grade submissions.

Interested teachers submit the forms to Cincinnati Christian University’s Educational Services and College Credit Plus Coordinator.  Those transcripts are sent to the individual academic deans in each college for the course they wish to teach.  (Example:  A high school English teacher will submit all forms to the Coordinator which are then presented for approval to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.)

Some courses are taught in a Guided On-Line format and high school proctors are used to facilitate the coursework.  A proctor is a certified high school teacher who is designated as a facilitator for on-line courses taught by Cincinnati Christian University professors.  While the Cincinnati Christian University Professor prepares and teaches the course content and assigns grades, the proctor can access the class content through Cincinnati Christian University’s Canvas System.  This helps keep the students on track and the proctor can answer student questions.  Guided On-Line courses at Cincinnati Christian University are blended instruction with the professor attending live classes, being a virtual presence at class time through FaceTime or Skype, or on-line presentations.
