Job Description:

Organization and upkeep of the Nursery/Preschool facility

  •  Build a team that will be responsible for the weekly monitoring of the Nursery/Preschool for organization and cleanliness
  •  Maintain ample supply of necessities for the nursery/preschool (i.e. diapers, wipes, snack, tissues, etc.)
  •  Work with the Director of Children’s Ministries to ensure all Safe Sanctuary policies are being met
  • Choose a volunteer to be responsible for the Bulletin Board to keep it up to date and colorful for the children
  • Make sure that all materials in the nursery/preschool are appropriate to that age level (i.e. toys, videos, etc.)


Coordination of volunteers for Worship experiences

  • Maintains an ongoing volunteer nursery/preschool/kindergarten worker schedule for all Sunday morning services that accommodates the number of children that come each week in both room
  •  Responsible for preschool and kindergarten curriculum
  • Responsible to have nursery covered for any current and new alternative worship experiences that occur at Faith Community United Methodist Church
  • Provide or coordinate Nursery coverage on an as needed basis for special worship services that might occur during the year, (i.e. Lent, Christmas, etc.)
  • Recruit teachers for the Preschool and Kindergarten classroom or take that role as necessary
    Coordinate the registration of our nursery/preschool children
  • Sign children in to the nursery/preschool/kindergarten; assign a pager, take care of child’s belongings
  • Keep an updated registration notebook – You can oversee a registration coordinator in this task
  • Work with the volunteer schedules as we graduate nursery children into the preschool area and with the graduation of preschoolers
  •  Create communications that would reach new visitors and parents with children in these areas
  • Active Participant of staff teams.
  •  Be available to children and families as needed.
  • Work with Director of Children’s Ministries to create and manage Birth – Kindergarten budget line items
  • Be available to assist/support other Children’s Ministry team members in ministry during seasonal “all hands on” activities and Tuesday night, Stepping Forward

Education and Experience

  •  CPR and first aid trained
  • Past experience in a church nursery and preschool age classroom
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School diploma acceptable with proven experience in Children’s Ministries



  • Excellent team-based leadership abilities
  •  Exceptional communication, organizational and computer skills
  •  Great relational skills with people of all ages and situations
  •  Excellent teaching skills with children ages nursery – preschool
  • Ability to work in and contribute to an overall staff team “strengths-based” environment
