Business Administrator/Treasurer

Position description:

The Business Administrator and Treasurer of FCC will supervise the recording and disbursement of all funds contributed to FCC in accordance with the guidelines contained in FCC Financial Policy and Procedure documents. This servant-leader will possess experience in legal documents, vendor bid and contract negotiations, credit card reconciliation, business insurance, employment law, policy writing/review. This person will communicate routinely with the Executive Director, Senior Minister, Board of Elders and Finance Committee regarding the financial status of the church and collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure their ministry vision is supported while maintaining the mission, vision and strategies of First Christian Church.

This position reports directly to the Executive Director

Specific responsibilities:

• Duties of the FCC Treasurer as outlined in the FCC Treasurer’s Guide
• Accurately recorded and timely disbursement of all funds contributed to FCC
o Ensure all taxes, reporting forms and regulations are met on a timely basis
o Facilitate payroll disbursement through current payroll partner
• Ensure controls, policies, and procedures are followed at the highest level of stewardship of our financial resources
• Legal
o Maintain property deeds/contracts
o Ensure employment laws are adhered to and up to date

• Vendors
o Collect bids
o Help to negotiate contract details

• Credit card supervision
o Distribute credit card statements to staff
o Reconcile credit card statements to receipts
o Input all purchases into FCC accounting program
• Insurance
o Maintain property, liability, health, life and long term disability policies
• Policy
o Assist in review of policies
• Assist Executive Director and Senior Minister with annual budget preparation
• Assist ministries with financial planning and problem resolution
• Partner with Senior Leadership to monitor and forecast payroll and benefit expenses
o Remain current on Federal and Ohio law employment practices such as hiring, termination, compensation, unemployment, Workers Compensation and general reporting
• Prepare and distribute monthly reports according to the needs of each ministry, Senior Leadership and Board of Elders

Competency:

• Accounting or finance degree; specialization in business management, business leadership, CPA preferred
• Minimum three years of experience of accounting management experience with large church and/or non-profit organization preferred
• Strong leadership and relational skills
• Ability to effectively and concisely communicate with all levels of the team from staff, leadership, and membership
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• Strategic thinking skills; ability to see the big picture and forecast long term financial planning
• Highly organized with ability to multi-task; steady demeanor under pressure
• Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency in Excel
• Quick Books experience preferred or equivalent accounting program experience
