Bequests are provisions made in your Will or Living Trusts that specifically set forth the portion or actual dollar amount that you wish transferred to a charity after death. In order to add the proper verbiage to your Will or Living Trust, please include the following:
- For a General Contribution
“I wish to remember Cincinnati Christian University, a qualifying not-for-profit IRS Code 501(c)3 organization with a gift in the amount of $__, or a designated percentage of__% of my estate for its general uses and purposes.”
- For a Program-specific Contribution
“I wish to remember Cincinnati Christian University, a qualifying not-for-profit IRS Code 501(c)3 with a gift in the amount of $__, or a designated percentage of __% of my estate to support (insert name of program or service here).”
Multiply Your Impact – If your company offers a matching gift program, you can double or even triple the impact of your gift. Just obtain the necessary form from your employer, complete it, and send it with your gift.
A gift of stock has many advantages. For stock that has been held over one year and has increased in value, there are two very attractive benefits. You can avoid the capital gains tax and receive a charitable deduction for the full value of the stock if you transfer ownership of the stock to CCU. Do NOT sell the stock. We are then able to liquidate the stock and as a charity exempt from taxes, pay no gain tax on your gift.
