Summary:  The Athletic Trainer role is to ensure the safety of student athletes and provide sports medicine treatment related to injury prevention and rehabilitation, under the supervision of a medical physician. This individual is also responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for submission to the institution’s insurance carrier.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides/direct medical services to teams as assigned, and assists in the supervision of medical services for all student-athletes to include:

o    Prevention of athletic injuries

o    Recognition and evaluation of athletic injuries

o    Acute care of athletic injuries

o    Rehabilitation of athletic injuries

  • Assist in the organization and administration of athletic training to include:

o    Participate in pre-participation physical examinations for all athletes

o    Maintaining and supervising maintenance of accurate medical records for all athletes

o    Coverage of athletic team practices and events

o    Travel with athletic teams as requested by the Athletic Director 

o    Informing the coaching staff of the physical and emotional status of their athletes as it pertains to their participation in that particular sport.

o    Education and advising of athletes regarding personal health

o    Communication with team physicians

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and in agreement with CCU’s philosophy of Christian higher education 
  • Four year college degree in related field, Master’s degree a plus
  • NATA certified
